Wine Country Ensemble

I love Capes but this one turned into an ensemble with the addition of a Transformational Reformation Dress. I will explain. I made the Cape first by starting with a blank length of white velvet fabric which I dyed into that luscious wine tone. I painted gold stripes on it before creating the ruching and the hood that can be snapped down into a collar. Then I wanted to discharge a design on the edge to bring out the variety of colors that went into the dye and found just the thing--an antique drawer pull I found on a broken dresser at the dumps of all places. So I used the discharge paste on the shape and made my detailed design on the edge of the cape.
There is a story to the Dress as well. I like to drape when I can and I attended a class for some advanced draping by a Japanese designer known for his Transformational Reformation--his name is Singo Sato. He inspired me to try to really go full bore and I created the pleated dress you see out of the raw silk I had used to line the cape. I like the ensemble that resulted. However, ensemble is being sold as separate or together, since the dress is a size 10-12Ensemble $500. Each piece $300.

Vineyard Glory Suit

I have combined two techniques in this suit. That of felting and knitting. The base is a felted princess shape which has been connected with knitted tubing and quilted for accent in the sides.
I have used knitting for the sleeves and peplum. The skirt is created from both suede material and felted material both of which have been lined. I again used the knitted tubes for the gored seams and
hem as a design element.
