Meet Sharon Cahn

Since childhood, my interests have always been with textiles, learning to knit, crochet and sew all at a young age. As a young homemaker I spent hours with a home study course in Fashion Design and took TV courses in Color and in Tailoring. My Mormon neighbors taught me quilting.
We moved “Back to the Land” in the 70’s not only to grow our own food, but to raise fiber animals as well. There I took classes to master the techniques of spinning and dyeing and learned weaving from the local Spinners and Weavers Guild. Tactile expression was my goal and Angora was and remains my specialty.
It wasn’t until the 80’s and Convergence (an International conference for Weavers) that I began to realize my designs and skills had merit as ART. I began to actively pursue not only techniques and embellishment skills, but also the principles of form and design as well.
For the last 40 years, I have striven to create ever more beautiful garments. In this quest, I developed a unique welted knitting technique that enhances the rounded female form. The vertical corrugation effect of my welted knitting technique also allows for a movement and drape that flatters and all is accomplished with comfort and beauty.
Vertical lines, rounded form and sensuous movement combined with texture and color contrasts have become the hallmarks of my designs. Today I have combined them with the techniques and skills I have acquired throughout the years to create these beautiful garments to keep you warm.
