Time to try this again! Keeping up my webpage hasn't been possible so I finally asked for some help. So here's a newsletter to update you.
Since my hip replacement I have been exploring new avenues for my work. I took some draping classes again and created a lovely red ensemble as my version of John Richards "Inside-Out Dress" that hit the London runways 2 years ago. This last fall I took a Transformational Reconstruction class with Shinto Sate and created my Twisted Sister ensemble this summer. Lately I have been having fun making Fanci Headbands and Fascinators as finally frilly hats are in fashion again. I am setting up some classes this spring to show how easy they are to make.
I am also finally ready to teach my creativity classes again and of course my Felting classes will begin in Jan-Feb but with an addition of advance classes with resists for those who have some basic experience. This class will follow up on an idea I have for felted wrist and leg warmers.
This summer I will be in British Columbia again. I have a new direction for combining felting, knitting and quilting in jackets and vests that I hope to pursue and I am really excited about it. My spring is too busy with classes so it will have to wait until summer before I follow up on the idea, but I can hardly wait.
Due to the economy, some of my outlets have folded or changed direction but I have gained some new outlets as well. My natural fiber pieces are being carried by "Wild Fibers" in Langdon, Oregon along the coast and "La Lana Wools " in Taos New Mexico still carry my angora and feather Cap Scarves. I also have a new outlet in Ferndale near Eureka called "Opera Alley" which carries many of my pieces. The "Galleria " in Occidental has carried my pieces for the last 4 years and "Material Visions" in Vallejo joined me following my Vallejo one woman show. Check them out.
I am looking forward to 2012. Ever the optimist--things will get better. Right!
Sharon
